Is this paid?
Fishbowl brings together targeted, affluent and attentive professional communities for free. We organize and coordinate our Q&A’s in some of our largest or most engaged communities, as relevant and appropriate, thereby providing access to thousands of potential new clients and connections. Our intention is that this results in the ability to promote your services organically and receive an exchange for your time. We also promote you across our social media channels.
What kind of audience can I get?
Each event is coordinated carefully to reach the most appropriate sub-section of Fishbowl users, according to the person hosting and their expertise. We work carefully with you to find the most precise and beneficial fit.
Getting started: call with Robin
As part of the onboarding process, you’ll have a private 1:1 call with a member of our community team to organize and ask any questions you may have. During this call, all specifics of set-up, expectations, and benefits of Q&A’s are also addressed.
What kind of interactions/responses?
You can expect robust replies that span the spectrum of simple to complicated questions from users. Depending on your subject area, users may also ask more personal questions. We only ask that your replies be approachable, and as detailed as possible, but they do not need to be lengthy.
Is this an ongoing or one-time commitment?
We run text-based Q&A events as one-off to start, to test the waters. If it is desirable between a host and the engagement we see in response to their event, we can also set up recurring series of events and have found these to do well also.
Location in the app?
Each text-based Q&A is held in a pre-established community (bowl) on Fishbowl that is chosen based on audience fit for the particular expertise being shared. You’ll receive a link to this bowl so that you may also share it directly with your personal audience if you choose.

Best practices as a moderator
Can I have a copy of the audio?
Yes you can request the audio file. The most attended events will be shared on our podcast, Hardly Working.
Is the event shared anywhere else?
Yes, the event is first promoted on social media in our weekly event roundup. The episode is then available on Fishbowl indefinitely, accessible to anyone through search, or to people who have RSVP’d to the event in their history (‘Attended’ tab in the Fishbowl Live section). After, the top-performing events are reposted on our podcast, Hardly Working, with additional social media promotion across different channels. Top-performing events can also be promoted on Glassdoor properties (blog & email list).
Can I have the audience list?
During the event, you have access to the full event list and profiles. After the event, a large portion of this audience list is available within the ‘Previous Events’ tab in the app.
Will there be promotional assets?
On top of being featured on social in our weekly event roundup, we can provide personal high quality marketing assets if you agree to post them and tag us on your social accounts.
Will I have a point of contact?
Yes, Rachel (live at fishbowlapp.com), the organizer of your events. (If the event is created with the Fishbowl team; not a user-generated event.)
Will I have a moderator?
You will need to provide a moderator. You can request assistance with finding a moderator, but it is based on availability.
What information do I need to provide to organize an event?
Can I reach out to the audience directly after the event?
You can reach out to the audience who had a meaningful connection with you, such as people who came on stage to speak with you. We just want our speakers to be mindful of our Community Guidelines and avoid unsolicited sales/marketing tactics in the audience DMs.
What app features do I have access to as a host?
How long does the process take?
Can we have a live demo?
Yes if needed, but most likely it will occur during the 10 min prep time before the event kick off.
